Beauty Envision Awards (BEA)
It is always inspiring to have some of our team able to experience our industry at its finest!
"EN.VI.SON: ver: imagine as a future possibility. Visualize."
This year Wella's BEA (Beauty Envision Awards) were held in Los Angeles, California. BEA is one of the most prestigious events in our salon industry.
Amy, our Artistic Director, and our Hair Stylist, Kyla had the wonderful opportunity to attend the awards show on July 21st -22nd.
The show consisted of a variety of categories including 'Future Star', 'Editorial Hair', 'Men’s Hairstyling', 'Hair Transformation', 'Nails', 'Bridal', Colourist of the Year', and 'Salon Team'.
Our very own Dan Panuccio was a Finalist for the Colourist of the Year for Canada.
This year fashion trends were inspired by a 70's rock and a 30's glam make up approach, with geometric prints, and stripes paired with bold hair colours. You will see the colours trending in soft appearance while still being bold with blues, pinks and purples and a hint of green in the mix.
Haircuts were defiantly on edge this year, with blunt fringes & blunt perimeter. Also noticing shorter haircuts were trending with sharp and precise cuts or soft and relaxed.
The bridal competitors didn't disappoint; in formal looks we are still seeing smoothness with volume. Some looks included all the hair being pulled back with curls at the end and more pony tails incorporated into their creations.
Education Excursions
True to all our "Education Excursions", we always add in a little time for adventure and memories. Wella always holds a cocktail party for all of our Canadian fellow hair-styling friends to connect with, reconnect, and motivate one another. Kyla and Amy made sure to make the most of their limited free time to take in some of the "must see's" in Hollywood!
Amy and Kyla both were very moved by one of the Judges, Mark Bustos for the Seb Man men's category. Bustos is known as a salon influencer who enjoys giving back to his community; every Sunday (no matter where he is) he goes out and offers complimentary haircuts to the homeless.Amy and Kyla had the pleasure of witnessing this first hand on their trip.
Something that both our staff took away from Mark is that hard work definitely pays off, and the dedication you show for what you are passionate about can be an incredible thing!
